Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS)
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is a Commonwealth Government funded programme that provides friendship and companionship to eligible older Australians. The service is free for eligible aged care recipients.
GWC Community Services is an auspice funded under this programme and supports Greek-speaking older Australians in subsidised residential aged care facilities, or those living at home and receiving a Home Care Package.
The program aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness caused by cultural or language barriers, or reduced contact from family and friends.
GWC Community Services provides trained volunteers who are matched with an aged care recipient. Visits occur weekly or fortnightly and aim to provide friendship, companionship and meaningful social connection.
